In an update to the previous story regarding the concussion that The Undertaker suffered during his match at Wrestlemania XXX, WWE.com has confirmed the injury with the following statement:
“WWE.com can confirm that, following last night’s historic match with Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker was immediately taken to Ochsner Medical Center. After a CT scan and other medical testing, he was diagnosed with a severe concussion and was kept overnight for further evaluation. He was discharged early Monday afternoon.
Stay with WWE.com for updates on The Phenom’s condition.”
According to the previous report here at Wrestling News Depot, The Undertaker’s concussion reportedly came during a spot early in the match where he took a bad fall off of a single-leg takedown from Brock Lesnar.
It seems that despite the early injury, The Undertaker was able to finish the match as it was planned with Brock Lesnar defeating him to end his undefeated Streak and seemingly end his career in professional wrestling.
While WWE will most definitely comment on the situation, it’s not very likely that The Undertaker will appear tonight on Raw after suffering such a serious injury. Rumors have ran rampant that Sting may appear on the show and build towards a possible match with Undertaker at Wrestlemania 31, but now who knows what direction the company will choose to go in.
If this is not the end of his professional wrestling career and he does choose to wrestle again, the mystique of the Streak may be gone but it may not be a bad thing. Particularly in the last couple of years, The Undertaker’s matches at Wrestlemania have stolen the show and rate as some of the best matches that WWE has ever produced.
Now that the focus would no longer be on the Streak like it has been in past years, we would likely see a very different storyline than we have seen from “The Phenom” lately as he would seemingly be winding his career down. Also, it would make the outcome of those possible future matches less predictable now that we know that there is a chance that The Undertaker could lose at the “Showcase of the Immortals.”
There has been no official announcement yet regarding The Undertaker’s future in the professional wrestling business, but if this is the end for him, The Undertaker is a surefire Hall of Famer next year in Santa Clara, California.
All of us here at Wrestling News Depot wish The Undertaker a speedy recovery and we will continue to give any updates on his condition as we get them.
